Homeless!

So - after all of our hard work painting the bedrooms, hanging window treatments and trying to start getting settled... it has finally become apparent that we will not be staying in the house we moved in to. Following the big flood last week there has been more rain and major growth of MOLD in our house :( The cat and dog have both been throwing up and now Carter and Aaron are sick. For some reason, it hasn't gotten me, yet.

Unfortunately, we still don't really have anywhere else to go. While Mark & Ann have graciously offered to host us until another school housing option becomes available (likely not until Labor Day), it is tough to accommodate the 3 of us plus the dog and cat while Ann runs her daycare each weekday. Therefore, Carter and I will be flying to Portland tomorrow for 9 days. Aaron will probably end up staying at Mark and Ann's with Toby and kitty will have stay in the one room that doesn't stink at the house.

Even though we still won't have a home when Carter and I return next week, we are hopeful that the school will offer some sort of alternative until the other house becomes available. The unfortunate thing about the house we are waiting on is that is is currently being rented by 2 teachers who waited until the day in-service started to alert the school that they would not be returning. This allowed them a full 30 days to stay in the house. I just have to believe that selfish and mean-spirited people like this will get theirs somewhere down the road. Even after hearing of our living conditions and that we are waiting to move in, they are not in any hurry to get out.

Despite all of this, I still have high hopes for our future in Colorado. There are many wonderful people here who have expressed great concern for us and I know that once we are settled in to a home, things will improve greatly. Aaron's first day of school is tomorrow and his first game is the 29th. Go Eagles!
